Anchor for my soul

Come to Me continually.

I am meant to be the center of your consciousness, the anchor of your soul.

Your mind will wander from Me, but the question is how far will you let it wander.

An anchor on a short rope lets a boat drift only slightly before the taut line tugs the boat back to the center.

Similiarly, as you drift away from Me, My Spirit within you gives a tug, prompting you to return to Me.

As you become increasingly attuned to My Presence, the length of rope on your soul's anchor is shortened.

You wander only a short distance before feeling that inner tug -- tell you to return to your true Center in Me.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain. Hebrews 6:19

And now, dear children, continue in Him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming. 1 John 2:28

Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." Matthew 22:37

Characteristics of a Christian Woman: Modesty

This week I spent some time with the word pride. The exact opposite of pride is humility & I touched on that last week, but I felt that God still wanted me to keep going on this. I was led to modesty.

Modesty is being reserved about yourself in a humble matter in regards to the way you present yourself, your behavior, clothing, & words.

Modesty is the opposite of pride. God does not like pride, in fact He strongly dislikes it. I used James 4:6 last week & I will use it again this week so stress my point.

James 4:6 -- God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

He opposes the proud. He disapproves those who are prideful. I know I don't want God to disapprove of me. And I never considered myself a prideful person until I was reading this week & thought wow, I do harbor a lot of pride. When I first think of pride I think, oh someone that thinks they are better than someone else & always has to be right. Whereas I know I do like to be right a lot, but I never thought it was an overbearing way. Well regardless, I should never push the issue of oh I am right even when I am. That is not acting out of love.

This week God told me that pride = a justification of ones own actions as well as it leads to bitterness & resentment. Oh hello Tiffany so nice to meet you. I am prideful, now I would like to say goodbye to this behavior.

I want to be modest woman. A woman that is humble in the words I speak, the way I dress, rid any bitterness I have, & quit justifying things.

Timothy 2:9 ESV -- Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control

What Do I Know of Holy?

Happy Friday!

Today I wanted to share with you a song that has been on repeat in my car.  It's one of those songs that I sing way too loudly when no one is listening.  It has touched me in a way that's made me question my faith and how I really treat my relationship with the Lord.  I think sometimes it becomes routine and I forget the incredible holiness of God.  If I was truly in His presence standing before Him I don't think I'd even be able to stand.  I know sometimes I put Him in a box, make Him into what fits in my mind, and I need reminders to break that box wide open and allow Him in all of His power and glory to reign.  Lord, "I think I made you too small"...

I made You promises a thousand times

I tried to hear from Heaven
But I talked the whole time
I think I made You too small

I never feared You at all No
If You touched my face would I know You?
Looked into my eyes could I behold You?

So What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
So What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

I guess I thought that I had figured You out
I knew all the stories and I learned to talk about
How You were mighty to save
Those were only empty words on a page
Then I caught a glimpse of who You might be
The slightest hint of You brought me down to my knees

So What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
So What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

What do I know of Holy?
What do I know of wounds that will heal my shame?
And a God who gave life it's name?
What do I know of Holy?
Of the One who the angels praise?
All creation knows Your name
On earth and heaven above
What do I know of this love?

What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

7 Ways to Practice Peace

On my iPhone Bible App, I'm currently going through a short daily devotional by Joyce Meyer. It's just a short read and a verse everyday called Promises for Your Everyday Life. I read it in the morning just to get my day started right. One of them last week really hit me because of it simplicity and I wanted to share it with you today! So many people in our world are searching for peace and often times what we choose to do can block that perfect peace God wants to give to us. We say "yes" to too many plans, hurry through everyday life and decisions which can lead us to missing what God wants to say to us and do in our lives. This devotional was a short but very good reality check of how to practice this important fruit of the Spirit - Peace.

7 Ways to Practice Peace

"Living in God's peace is vital to enjoying life. I believe that one of the kets to living with peace in your life is taking small steps toward peace every day. Here are a few tips you can use to develop a more peaceful lifestyle.

1. Be selective with how you spend your time. You may be trying to do too many things and end up doing none of them well. Hurrying is the flesh trying to do more than the Holy Spirit is leading you to do. Be led by the Spirit.

2. Be prepared to say "no" nicely. Sometimes we take on things we shouldn't because we're uncomfortable saying no. As God to give you the words to say no when you need to. (This is me!)

3. Resist the spirit of procrastination (this is also me!). God's Word tells us to exercise self-discipline. Do what you know you need to do now so you can fully enjoy your times of rest.

4. Eliminate key distractions. If you know you are prone to certain distractions, such as watching TV or surfing the internet, set some guidelines for yourself.

5. Set appropriate boundaries for interruptions. Life is full of interruptions, but you can learn to set boundaries that help you manage them in healthy ways, such as scheduling times when you are "off limits." Schedule time to give yourself a break!

6. Modify your life. Ask God to show you out-of-the-box ways to save time and trouble. For instance, when I don't have time to do the dishes, I use paper plates!

7. Pray and listen. If you can see that your plan is not producing peace, go back to God, pray for peace int he now, and for the wisdom to make change that will benefit your life.

The bottom line is to make peace a priority, take practical steps toward it, and let God lead you every day into His perfect peace that passes all understanding."

Characteristics of a Christian Woman: Humble

Humility. To be humble. What does this mean to you? When I hear this word I automatically think Jesus. It's one of my favorite characteristics to try to mimic of His.

I think the world looks at humility as... Let me just stand here & I will let you walk all over me. But again - what the world views is not the same as what God views.

Humble.

To put one owns interest below another. To put someone else before you.

James 4:6 -- God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.

When I see this verse I can't help to think, God wants us to be proud of ourselves still right? But in a humble matter. Not to boast in our achievements but to be humble giving thanks to the Lord that has provided it all to be possible.

2 Chronicles 7:14 -- If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves & pray & seek my face & turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven & will forgive their sin.

God tells us to humble ourselves. Humble ourselves before Him. Open up to Him! Pray to him!! Seek him!!

1 Peter 5:5 -- All of you, clothe yourself in humility toward one another.

God doesn't want us to humble ourselves to Him, but to those around us. In our day to day life. We should strive to be servants of others because Christ is our biggest servant.

When you hear the word humility, I hope you too begin to think of Jesus. Jesus put every single person before Himself. Every. Single. Person. People that He did not know yet, people that He would never meet. People generations & generations, us. That He is yet to physically meet, but He knew we would exist. He knew the humble thing He was supposed to do for ALL of us.

The most humble thing anyone could ever do for us, is die on that cross for all of us & all of our sins so we can LIVE.

The least we can do is mimic Him.

I challenge you today, put someone before you today. Put their needs way above yours. But above all put His needs & desires for our lives first. Seek Him.
Be humble. Think more of Jesus today. And others.

Hold Onto His Promises

Ever have one of those moments when you're husband calls and asks if you're sitting down? What runs through your mind? Did he get in a car accident? Get a promotion? Cheat on me? Yes, all those things ran through my mind in about 3 seconds when my husband called me last week on Monday morning and said, "are you sitting down?" Well no I wasn't, I had just gotten out of the shower, still in a towel, and definitely needed to sit down after what he told me.

For those of you who don't know my family or how we got to where we are, let me briefly share. My husband and I grew up in northern Indiana - and got married there in 2008. We moved from our hometowns, families, and friends in Indiana to the Phoenix area in Arizona in May 2010. We had just experienced a long, painful miscarriage and knew that God was calling us to a fresh start. Arizona had been on our heart for a while and when we decided to move, God put the pieces into place quickly. Within a week, my husband was granted a transfer with his job, our house was on the market, we knew where we were going to live, and I had put in my 2 week notice at work. We felt God's promise to move us to AZ was being fulfilled by the open doors He had placed before us. And we took a huge leap of faith, leaving behind everything we'd ever known.

Fast forward to June 2013... we've lived in Arizona for 3 years, had another miscarriage, made great friends, been a part of an amazing church, and finally had a beautiful son, Miles. We love the mountains, the constant sunshine, and active lifestyle. I had traveled home to Indiana in June with Miles to watch my little brother graduate high school. When I left to come back to AZ, something in my heart tugged at me - it was a little harder to leave home that time. I had said something to my husband briefly, but no nagging involved. See... I have always been open to moving back home to Indiana. But I was also okay living in Arizona too. My husband, however, was completely adamant that we were never leaving. He never wanted to go back to snow, rain, gloomy skies, old towns, or boring places. And no family members could ever change his mind about it.

Well last week as I stood listening my husband on the other end of the phone, I heard I never thought I would hear. He said for weeks he had felt God speaking to him about moving our family home to Indiana. Although he wanted to be very selfish and stay in the bright sun of Phoenix where there are a lot of opportunities, he knew that God was telling him it wasn't right for the future of our family. And he had to act on the command that was given to him. I listened to a man whose heart was open to God. And as I stood there shocked and full of questions, my husband said, "I know if God's putting this promise on my heart to bring us back home, he will make a way."

As I'm reading through Romans, I went back to chapter 4 and decided to read it in the Message Bible. I read this chapter before my husband shared what was on his heart. It's amazing how God prepares you for things you don't know will happen! The Message Bible says about God's promises (in context, his promise to Abraham),

"That famous promise that God gave Abraham - that he and his children would possess the earth - was not given because of something Abraham did or would do. It was based on God's decision to put everything together for him, which Abraham then entered when we believed. If those who get what God gives them only get it by doing everything they are told to do and filling out all the right forms, properly signed, that eliminates personal trust completely and turns the promise into an ironclad contract. That's not a holy promise; that's a business deal. A contract drawn up by a hard-nosed lawyer and with plenty of fine print only makes sure that you will never be able to collect. But if there is no contract in the first place, simply a promise - and God's promise at that - you can't break it. This is why the fulfillment of God's promise depends entirely on trusting God and his way, then simply embracing him and what he does. God's promise arrives as a pure gift."

God does not say, "Here is my promise..how should be neigotiate this?" He says, "Here is my promise." Period. No ifs, ands, or buts... no asking "God: if I do this, will you do this?" God's promises are not business deals. They are gifts! When God put it on our heart to move us as a family home to Indiana, we could have said, "God here's exactly where we want to be, and what job he wants to have.. oh and here's when we'd like to actually move." Nope... we chose to say, "If God's made us a promise to bring us home to our family, then he will open and close doors according to his plan." Let me tell you, it's not an easy prayer to pray. If we're gonna move, my selfish desires want to move at this time, to this place, with my husband at this job. But it's my privilege as God's child, not to negotiate, but to stand firm in my trust in Him and then just watch God work! God will make a way, he will show us his plan, and all he asks is that I trust him and follow him.

I'm holding onto his promises.

Trust in God

As girls, I think we experience this a lot. People come in & out of our lives. Friends come & go. We come & go. But just know at the end of the day trust in God. The people He places in your life at points in your life, you needed them there. If He removes them, there is a reason why. Just trust in Him.

Characteristics of a Christian Woman: Obedient

Obedient.

That is a tough word in today's society. As a woman, I think that word can be even tougher. To me I think obedience falls in line as being submissive, but that's another week.

Last week I discussed being a better Godly listener. A listener to not only those around you, but to Christ most importantly. After you take in those words given to you, the next step is to be obedient.

When Christ tells you to move.. You move.
When He tells you, wait, this just isn't My time yet, you wait.
When He says, this is it, you need to do this now, you do it.

Obedience can be difficult. Especially when it's not your way right?

John 14:15 -- If you love Me, keep my commands.

Ouch. IF I love Him? Of COURSE I love Him. My love for Him = immediate obedience.

1 Peter 1:14 -- As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

My selfish desires = worldly desires = evil desires.

Luke 6:46 -- Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say.

We call out to Him asking & looking for answers, but so many times we do not listen to Him. It may be because we do not hear Him or we ignore Him.

Scripture clearly states to obey.

Not only should you obey the One & Only, but you should obey your husbands as women. And this is where I think it gets touchy in today's world.

As a wife & a women of God I want to respect my husband & obey. Now, I am not anywhere close to being perfect on this one because again.. Is this my way or my idea? No. Then why do I want to do it again?

I should not only want to do it for God, but for my husband. God has placed our husbands over us as wives & over our children & household. Not obeying our husbands, is not obeying God (Please note that if you are in an abusive relationship I am not saying you must obey your husbands). You should obey your husband in accordance to God's ways.

I think obeying your husband ultimately gives you a happy house. A happy wife is a happy life as husbands would say, but I believe that a happy husband is a respected (obedient) life. If you are making your husband happy, shouldn't that make you happy?

Women of the Bible - Anna

Anna is the third women in our series of Women in the Bible.  If you missed the woman who washed Jesus' feet or Mary, check out their stories as well!

Anna

Anna was a prophetess whose short story can be found in Luke chapter 2.  She was a widow and was very old.  It says in verse 36 that she "Never left the temple, worshipped day and night, fasting and praying."

Anna appears at the time that Jesus was presented to the Lord in the temple as an infant.  This is the ceremony that we model our child dedication after today!  In fact I learned about this practice when we dedicated our second son in the church earlier this year.  Mary and Joseph had just received a word about the destiny of Jesus from the Lord through a righteous man named Simon.  They were then approached by Anna.  Verse 38 says, "Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem."

Girls, I know her story is short but do you know what it says to me?  The Lord gave wisdom and favor to women in the Bible!  Anna knew who this baby was the moment she laid eyes on him.  The Lord had revealed to her that he was the one they were looking forward to!  Thank you Lord for the example of Godly women in the Bible like Anna (and Mary of Nazareth) who heard your voice and were blessed by you!

I Will Follow You

This song has been on my mind constantly as God moves in my life and I'm growing in Him. I just encourage you to be challenged by this, as going where God calls may not always make sense, or work the way you think it should. But God calls us to follow him, no matter what. All His ways are good and all his ways are sure. Trust in Him alone!

Where you go, I'll go
Where you stay, I'll stay
When you move, I'll move
I will follow...

All your ways are good
All your ways are sure (AMEN!)
I will trust in you alone
Higher than my sight
High above my life
I will trust in you alone (trust in you alone)

Where you go, I'll go
Where you stay, I'll stay
When you move, I'll move
I will follow you
Who you love, I'll love
How you serve I'll serve
If this life I lose, I will follow you, yeah
I will follow you, yeah

Light unto the world
Light unto my life
I will live for you alone
You're the one I seek
Knowing I will find
All I need in you alone, in you alone

Where you go, I'll go
Where you stay, I'll stay
When you move, I'll move
I will follow you
Who you love, I'll love
How you serve I'll serve
If this life I lose, I will follow you, yeah
I will follow you, yeah

In you there's life everlasting
In you there's freedom for my soul
In you there's joy, unending joy
And I will follow

His Will {Image}

We try and try to plan our lives according to our will. Our needs...wants.

We save money for months for an expensive family trip...God says...Help someone instead. His Will.

We are offered a fantastic promotion at work...means more money, better financial life for the family...God says...You don't need it. My path is better.

His will...His time...His plan.
Trust him.

Rope...size of your choice. I chose a chunky rope. I got mine from Lowes. You can buy it by the foot.
Glue gun & glue sticks.

Cut & insert the map into the frame.
Cut your rope to the right length so it will go all the way around the frame.
Use your glue gun and glue the rope right on the frame.

Characteristics of a Christian Woman: Listener

In the back of my journal I've been led to jot down characteristics a Christian should have, more specifically a woman, and even more specifically myself. And then I realize I am like NONE of these. Okay at times I am, when everything is going perfectly. But when the day is blah, the kids are AH, and nothing is going right.. I fall extremely short of being the Christian woman I should be.

And then I get down thinking I am a terrible Christian & I think to myself.. That is the enemy trying to get a foothold in my mind & think that I cannot change. But I can. I know I can.

I am going to start this week with one that is EXTREMELY heavy on my heart. And by heavy, I mean God has hit me with several different readings that are touching on the EXACT same context. I love when that happens because I know that is God. But then I am like okay God, how long have you been telling me this? How many times have I missed it? Because I feel like I just got hit with a ton of bricks in the head saying, "DUH Tiffany."

The characteristic I want to touch on this week is... Drum roll please...

A Listener.

What woman doesn't listen? Isn't it usually the men that don't listen? Um nope. I've realized lately how much I hear what people are saying.. But I don't really listen. Something I have unfortunately accused my husband of.. Which in fact I will never do that again because I just called the kettle black.

Have you ever tried listening without interrupting someone? That is on a notecard in my prayer journal.

Proverbs 18:13 -- He who answers before listening, that is his folly & his shame.

Those who interrupt are... Selfish... Foolish... And not humble. Gulp. Talk about a hard pill to swallow. How many conversations do we have on a daily basis where we interrupt someone? Whether to cut in to give advice, prove the wrong, or change the subject. It happens.

I know I need to cut that out. Being love is listening. God wants us to listen.

Not only to those in our daily life on this earth, but to HIM. First and foremost, always listen to Him first. But also, those around you. Who love you & that you love. Listen to them. Because I know I don't want to be foolish, or selfish, or even the opposite of humble. I want to be wise, and giving, and humble!!!

Joyce Meyer nailed this in her book Change Your Words Change Your Life -- "Jesus said that if we love Him, we will obey Him. But we cannot obey Him if we don't listen to what He wants to say to us. How we listen to Bible teaching determines what we get out of it."

James 1:19 -- My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen.

John 8:47 -- He who belongs to God hears what God says.

Psalm 119:105 -- Your Word is a lamp to my feet & a light for my path.

5 Ways to be a Godly Listener
1. Open your eyes, your ears & your heart & listen to God.
2. Be obedient to what God told you to do.
3. Stop interrupting.
4. Engage in the conversation.
5. Take your time to listen. Jesus took His time on earth to listen. God takes His time to listen to us.

Women of the Bible - Mary Mother of Jesus

I started last week with a series of posts on women in the Bible.  If you missed the post about the woman who washed Jesus' feet, go check out her powerful story here!  If you have ever been curious about the significance of women in the Bible, join with me every Friday for a look at who these women are!

Mary

I couldn't wait much longer to share with you the story of Mary, Jesus' mother.  I would imagine everyone knows who Mary is - even those who aren't super familiar with the Bible.  She was visited by an angel when she was just a teenager.  He told her that the Lord was with her and that she was highly favored by him.  It says next that she was greatly troubled.  She had no idea what was going on!  Why in the world was she being visited by this being?  He told her not to be afraid, that she would conceive and give birth to a child who would be the son of God, who would be great and would go on to reign as King forever.  Holy moly!  This was a young woman who was engaged to be married to Joseph.  I can't imagine the questions and the fears that she experienced at that time.  It says that she questioned the angel about how this could be.  She told him that she was a virgin.  He told her that the child would be from the Holy Spirit, that the power of God would rest on her.  He also promised that her elderly relative Elizabeth, who had been unable to conceive, would be pregnant as well.  In Luke 1:37, the angel says, "For no word from God will ever fail."  Her next response in Luke 1:38, "I am the Lord's servant, may your word to me be fulfilled."

What incredible faith and courage she had.  She was about to experience something miraculous.  No doubt she had so many fears about what she had just learned, but she trusted enough in the Lord to accept his words and her destiny.

Throughout the story of Jesus in the New Testament, we continue to see the character of Mary.  When you have a moment, look up Luke 1:46-55, where she worships God for what he is doing in her... this passage is called Mary's Song.

John 2 tells the story of the wedding where Jesus turns water into wine.  Here in verse 5 she says to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."  Mary believes in her son's power.

Mary was also a woman of faith who supported her son in prayer.  One example of this is found in Acts 1:14, where Mary joined together constantly in prayer with the apostles, Jesus' brothers and other women.

I love the example of Mary!  We get to see her as a girl who matures into a woman and follows God faithfully through her journey.

Unwavering Faith

Thank you to our active and retired service men and women, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and others who have served our country and fought for our freedom!

I started reading chapter by chapter through Romans and last night, reading chapter 4, I was reminded about faith. In Romans 4, Paul is describing Abraham's faith in God's promise to him that he would be the Father of many nations. Abraham was 100 years old and his wife, Sarah, 90, when they had their first child. Abraham looked at his body and new it was "dead" - how in the world at the age of 100 and 90 could they ever become natural parents? Paul describes how God credited righteousness to Abraham because of his faith in God. Not for his works or sacrifices, but for his belief in God and His promises.

18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be." 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22 This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” 23 The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone,24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Abraham looked at his body and knew it was as good as dead - yet even in facing that reality, he never wavered in his faith that God could fulfill his promises. The study notes in my Bible about verse 20 say, "Faith does not refuse to face reality but looks beyond all difficulties to God and His promises." Abraham was realistic about his situation, but it doesn't mean that he trusted God any less. Instead, he trusted God more! He looked beyond all his doubts, fears, and difficulties and knew God was going to fulfill his promises. Abraham's faith never wavered and God credited him righteousness because of that.

Are you going through a difficult time? Can't see the light at the end of the tunnel? It's okay to be realistic about your circumstances - God gave us wisdom and a brain for a reason. But don't ever lose hope that God will provide. Don't ever doubt the promises of the King! Believe! Have faith!

Fight for your time with Him

This past week was a total nightmare for me. For those that know me personally, know I don't usually complain about much. I guess you could say, I sort of complained a lot last week. I was on the verge of {let's be honest} cutting someone. I was all sorts of frustrated and hostile. Anyone and EVERYONE and EVERYTHING was on my nerves. Anything sent me over the edge, screaming kids, fighting kids, demanding husbands, house chores. I was a wretch to be around.

This weekend we had the opportunity to get out of town. A last minute trip. I don't know how all the plans worked out as smoothly as they did (especially after my week) but we were able to enjoy a two day get-a-way to Pismo Beach, Ca. I can only believe it was a God thing. He made all those prior plans and commitments just fall off our schedule. I spent the majority of my days sitting in the sand...breathing. I needed that weekend and God knew it!

A few months back I purchased this book to start with my kids. During our coastal vacation we were a little behind on devotions. When we returned July 1st really spoke to me.
"Fight for your time with me"
God, we come into your Temple. There we think about your love. Psalm 48:9

Drat! I had did it again. Allowed myself to get sucked into worrying about everyone else.
Taking care of everyone else's needs.

"Soak in MY presence as you would soak in a warm bathtub. Let My Love surround you and seep into your soul-giving you new energy. And let all your worries swirl away."

Soak in a bath tub, ain't nobody got time for that. The kids are screaming and fighting.

"You need to spend time alone with me-so I can get the tangles our of your thoughts and smooth out the day for you."

Spend time alone...the kids are killing each other. If I blink one will try to kill the other.

"Sometimes you will have to fight your own wish to stay in bed...You'll have to say "not right now" to friends"

My face right now is indescribable.

Fight for your time with me.

That is what I hadn't been doing the whole week. I honestly don't think I really got into the word...at all. Other then bible study. Nothing on my own time and leisure reading. I hadn't been taking the time to pray each morning, like I should. I wish I could say the "Super Moon" and heat made me irritable. But the fact is, it was my own doing. I allowed myself to let people and everyday life get to me. I became weak. I was not a fighter.

My point of today's post. I am NOT perfect. But I do recognize when things go wrong, I realize I can not correct the people who irritate me but I can correct my reactions. It all starts with a bended knee.
I am always amazed at how God speaks to your heart. Today it was through my children's devotional.

Fight for your time with him and know that he will give you the victory.
Victory of the mind, heart and soul.

Deuteronomy 33:12 New International Version (NIV)

12 About Benjamin he said:

“Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.

How to make an easy pallet flag

I can't believe it's almost the 4th of July! Time is flying.

Here is my super easy tutorial on how to make a pallet flag.

I made this one for an outdoor garden area but it can also be used inside too for décor!

One of these suckers retails for $125 at a local shop. Might I say rip off?

Why pay that much when you can spend NOTHING if you have everything already or under $10 to purchase some supplies...

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED...

1 pallet (I'll be sharing later how to cut up a pallet) Also I found my pallet on the side of the road
2 D rings for hanging
1 can of white spray paint walmart brand $1
1 can blue spray paint walmart brand $1
1 can red spray paint walmart brand $1
a star stencil or silhouette machine to make one
white craft paint
small paint brush
painting tape

start with your cut up pieces of pallet. I actually only used 6 slats.

spray paint red & white. 3 red and 3 white starting with red

cut 2 side pieces of the pallet and then place under the painted pallet slats and nail each board to the 2x4 slats. 6 nails on each side. After all 12 nails are in screw the 2 D rings onto the 2 2x4s. So one D ring for each side for hanging.

If you need help understanding check out my detailed reclaimed fence board sign tutorial

tape off 3 slats and make a square. spray paint with blue

I didn't get a pic of that sorry.

Then take your stencil or silhouette and trace a star circle with a pen.

Then I used a small paint brush and painted in the stars.

Let it dry and you are done!!

Perfect for the 4th of July or any day in your garden!
